An introduction to 2D stop-motion animation through the creation of original creatures.

Drawing on inspiration from mythology, puppetry and stop-motion traditions, you will develop your creature using collage and paper-cut techniques for a short piece of experimental animation.

With hands-on support from the tutor, you will explore techniques for character design, before creating a small puppet or cut-out figure. You’ll be guided through DIY animation methods, and discover how a character can come to life through subtle movement and sequential images.
