Investigate the behaviour of a variety of 3D materials through transformation, organisation and combination.
During this workshop, you will create your own series of small sculptural studies, building your confidence to continue your exploration of materials within Contemporary Art Practice.
Beginning with a discussion of relevant artists including Eva Hesse, Sheila Gowda and Alicija Kwade, you will be introduced to ways in which meaning can emerge from the interaction of materials.
You will then work with two contrasting everyday materials – which could be anything from plastic netting to porridge oats – investigating their limits and potential through a series of structured exercises. Throughout the workshop, you will be encouraged to make notes and photograph your work, allowing you to reflect on your decision-making processes.
All core materials and equipment included. Concession rates are available for those in receipt of income-assessed benefits.
