Learn to mix gouache to an ink-like consistency for drawing and wash work.
With a flexible approach to drawing – using gouache as a fluid medium – you will experiment with the ways in which your artwork is affected by how the material behaves. Starting with guided exercises in exploring line, pressure, flow and layering, you will build up the confidence to interpret rather than copy your reference material.
Having experimented with process, you will move on to create one sustained drawing. Taking inspiration from artists such as David Hockney and Raymond Pettibon, you’ll build up your chosen image with layered washes, expressive line and a limited colour palette.
