Discover how material experimentation can transform your approach to landscape painting.
Rather than aiming for a quick ‘finished’ piece, this two-day workshop encourages you to embrace the unpredictability of your materials, allowing this to guide the development of your work over the course of the weekend.
Working with acrylics, as well as more unconventional mixed media materials, you will build up paintings by applying, removing and reworking layers – revealing and concealing different elements to create rich, textured surfaces.
With hands-on exploration and encouraging support from the tutor, you’ll gain confidence in making creative decisions about what to preserve, and when to keep going.
Looking to artists such as Joan Eardley and Anselm Kiefer for inspiration, this workshop is ideal for students who are ready to experiment with a more open-ended painting process and allow chance effects to occur.
