This week-long course introduces the figure through drawing, painting, and sculpture.
We’ll begin the week working directly from a life model, creating exploratory drawings that focus on measuring, proportion and line. With supportive guidance from the tutor, we’ll learn how to create paint swatches with different palettes and experiment with rendering the figure in clay.
Working across these disciplines, we’ll explore line, form and colour in combination, strengthening our confidence in approaching the figure no matter the materials. Using this research, we’ll go on to develop a final resolved painting.
Relevant artists include Suzanne Valadon, Jenny Saville and August Rodin.
All core materials and equipment included. Concession rates are available for those in receipt of income-assessed benefits.
NB: The course culminates in an informal exhibition of the week’s work, ending at 5.30pm on the final day.
