Course Staff

Create 3D decorative artworks using upcycled mixed media materials.

During this two-day course, we’ll take inspiration from Daniella Woolf’s paper installations, Kelly Kozma’s vibrant patchworks, Maria Thomas’ textile collages and Tracy Kendall’s designer wall coverings.

Using cloth scraps, found materials and other mixed media, we’ll experiment with colour, pattern and texture. Playing with hands-on techniques like folding, pleating, stitching, tying, cutting and joining, we’ll create repeating units of decorative pattern.

The tutor will demonstrate a range of techniques and materials, inspiring us to experiment with our own ideas.  We’ll produce initial design ideas, and develop these into at least one finished decorative mixed media piece such as a wall hanging.

This course is ideal for anyone interested in learning new crafting techniques and experimenting with materials. Suitable for beginners and experienced makers alike, the course also offers an excellent opportunity for those building design portfolios for further study.

All core materials and equipment included. Concession rates are available for those in receipt of income-assessed benefits.

NB: Please note that all work must be taken home at the end of the course due to limited storage.
