Alastair teaches Professional Practice sessions on the Artists Mentoring Course. He was a student on the Foundation Course before studying painting at The Glasgow School of Art and the MA Fine Art course at Wimbledon College of Arts.
Alastair's artistic practice is focussed on the notion of a painting as a cultural artefact, using illusion to pose questions of authenticity and the nature of painting and of the artist's practice. In recent years, Alastair has shown work at
Nomas* Projects, Dundee, and Nunnery Gallery, ArtLacuna, and BEARSPACE, all in London. He was also one of the alumni included in the School's 25th Anniversary Exhibition at the Dovecot Galleries in Edinburgh. Alastair has been shortlisted for the Griffin Art Prize, selected for the Winsor and Newton Painting Prize and was awarded the Shoosmiths Art Prize in 2015.
